Last week, Pastor Adam was invited to offer the closing prayer at the swearing in ceremony for the new Mayor and Council Members for the City of Cincinnati.
Adam’s prayer below:
Gracious and Holy One,
As the powerful and connected depart, and as we return from this ceremony to the city., remind us of the many for whom what took place here has no meaning and no importance. For they have seen politicians come and go and it has meant no change to their lives. What will this administration do to change that reality? That is the challenge before them.
Help our new Mayor and Members of Council to lead with integrity, creating a rewarding environment for honest work, and a culture that values every human life. Remind these newly elected officials that the measure of a good society is in the compassion shown to its most vulnerable people.
And grant to them these gifts:
-humility, to remember that they are servants of the people…
-wisdom, to make decisions that will always be less than perfect…
-and grace, to know that you have already given them the gifts they need for the work that lies ahead.
