At Knox we offer opportunities for children and youth to explore our faith traditions and learn the value of living in community, under the guidance of committed teachers. We invite kids ages 3 through 12th graders to participate in the following:
Fall Sunday School starts September 10. The Christian Education Committee has fun and engaging plans for Knox children, all with the aim of establishing a firm foundation of faith that will last a lifetime!
Introducing “Whirl” Sunday School curriculum for children grades 1-5
“Whirl” is a new Sunday School curriculum that follows the Revised Common Lectionary. It includes lesson materials for fall, winter, and spring quarters each year.
Every Whirl lesson follows a four-part sequence: Welcome, Hear, Respond, and Launch (WHRL!). Each week, kids and leaders start their time together by identifying where they are in the church year and watching an animated video to set up the lesson. Next, they dive into the Whirl Story Bible or Whirl NRSV Bible together, respond to the scripture lesson with creative leaflet activities, and circle up to review the lesson and pray before being dismissed.
Whirl makes Bible learning and faith formation fun!
The Knox Children's Choir
The Knox Children's Choir offers the opportunity for school age children in grades 1 through 6 to sing in the choir. Our main focus is singing to prepare music for Sunday worship. We sing monthly periodically in either the Fresh Spirit or the Traditional service. We also present a Christmas pageant, join the older youth for the Spring Musical, and participate in special services such as Youth Sunday.
