Accreditation

Knox Preschool is proud to be a naeyc accredited institution.

NAEYC’s reinvented early childhood program accreditation system requires programs to complete four steps to achieve NAEYC Accreditation. Four steps and requirements were developed with extensive input from early childhood educators and reviewed by the Reinvention Commission on NAEYC Early Childhood Program Standards and Accreditation Criteria, Council for NAEYC Accreditation, a board-appointed work group of representatives from large system of programs for young children. These requirements are designed to increase the accountability of the system for children, families, and all customers of NAEYC accreditation.

4 STEPS TO ACCREDITATION

Below are the four steps that all preschool programs must complete in order to be accredited with NAEYC.  For more complete information on NAEYC accreditation standards, please visit the NAEYC web site.

  • Enrollment in Self-Study is the first of four steps to achieving NAEYC Accreditation. It is an essential step toward achieving NAEYC Accreditation, but programs can also enroll even if they do not expect to proceed with the other steps toward NAEYC Accreditation in the near future.
  • After completing its initial self-study, a program officially Becomes and Applicant and begins the accreditation process by submitting an Application and indicating that it will complete the Candidacy Materials (including the program self assessment report) within one year.
  • When the program submits it’s completed Program Self-Assessment Report, the program Becomes a Candidate for NAEYC Accreditation.
  • Within six months of a program’s submission and approval of Candidacy Materials, NAEYC Assessor(s) will conduct an on-site assessment visit with the goal of Meeting the Programs Standards.
