Interfaith Hospitality Network at Knox

Trick or Treating with the IHN Kids

IHN- Interfaith Hospitality Network is a national response to our nation's homeless problems. It is a program that provides a safe place to sleep, a warm meal, a smile and a chance to take a breath while trying to get back on your feet. In Cincinnati, the IHN program consists of a daycenter and its wonderful staff and 2 networks of faith communities that come together to help homeless families in the Cincinnati area.

At Knox Presbyterian Church, we host up to 16 people every 8 weeks. These families (IHN only serves families and not individuals) Knox volunteers prepare and provide hot meals, evening activities, clean up, over night shifts and set up and take down. They also donate food for lunches and breakfast and warm clothes, sheets, towels and toiletries for our guests. There are many opportunities to help out IHN guests here at Knox. Our rotations take place every 6-8 weeks. The guests arrive in evening around 5pm and have dinner with the Knox volunteers. After dinner, they make lunches to take with them for the next day and enjoy various crafts and activities prepared by Knox members. Our guests spend the night in the Sunday School rooms on the 3rd floor, and after breakfast in the morning, catch a bus fron IHN that takes them back to the day center.
