Get Involved at Knox

Knox Presbyterian Church has a very active and dedicated congregation. There are many unique and powerful programs going on, but they all need support to run! Below is a list of areas and events that you can get involved with. Please get in touch with the contact person listed for more information.


Music Ministry

  • Adult Choir - Earl Rivers, Director of Music
  • The adult choir accepts new members twice a year (September and January). They practice Thursday evenings and sing weekly in worship. View the Traditional Music page for more information.
  • Handbell Choir - Brandon Dean, Handbell Director
  • The Knox handbell choir practices weekly on Thursday evenings, and preform about once a month. New ringers are always welcome! View the Traditional Music page for more information.
  • Covenant Choir - Katherine Campe, Covenant Choir Director
  • The Covenant Choir welcomes all 4th through 6th graders to share their musical talents! They rehearse every Sunday morning from 10:15-10:55 a.m. and perform every other month from October through June. View the Covenant Choir page for more information.
  • Carol Choir - Tracey Book, Carol Choir Director
  • The Carol Choir is a singing ensemble for children in 1st through 3rd grade. In Carol Choir children are encouraged to worship the Lord with their whole self through singing, dancing, and playing instruments. All children in this age group are welcome to join us at the 10:15 - 10:55 a.m. rehearsals on Sunday mornings. View the Carol Choir page for more information.
  • Youth Choir - Brian Potts, Youth Choir Director
  • The Youth Choir welcomes all students in grades 7 through 12 with an interest in singing. We welcome all singers bringing many different talents and abilities. The Youth Choir is a place to learn singing fundamentals as well as place to share our time and talents with each other. View the Youth Choir page for more information.
  • Knox Music Series - Earl Rivers, Director of Music
  • A community outreach program, the Knox Music Series presents sacred choral/orchestral masterworks featuring the Knox Choir, soloists and orchestra, and organ concertos, offering the community a rewarding musical experience in Knox's intimate and acoustically laudable sanctuary. Caring Ministry

  • Stephen Ministry - Jan Annett, Director of Stephen Ministry
  • Stephen Ministry is a one-to-one ministry by trained, caring lay people. At work in over 6,000 churches in 70+ denominations, it is a commitment to caring and supporting one another.
  • Wednesday Prayer Breakfast - Tom York, Pastor
  • The prayer breakfast group meets each Wednesday morning to reflect on the scriptures and sermon of the coming week's service, and to share in prayer for the people of the church that are in need.
  • Ushering - Linda Meineke, Administrative Assistant
  • Each week, hundreds of people attend the Knox worship services. Ushers are needed at both the 9:15 and 11:00 am services to pass out bulletins, assist worshipers in finding seats, and help visitors find their way around the church.
  • Flower Delivery - Sabrina Peppet, Coordinator
  • Volunteers deliver flowers to members of the congregation that have had significant life events. Contact the coordinator if you would like to help deliver, or help provide the flowers.
  • Sunday Child Care - Tiffany Zents, Director Christian Education
  • Knox has many young families who attend worship each week, and child care is available to them at both worship services. Volunteers are needed to help staff both the nursery and toddler rooms during those service times. See our Child Care page for more information.
  • Bread Delivery to Visitors - Jim Waddle, Borad of Deacons, chair
  • Visitors to Knox Church receive a welcome package that includes fresh baked bread. This is a mission of our Board of Deacons, and volunteers are welcome to help deliver and bake.
  • Healing Quilt Ministry - Pam Ward, Faith Community Nurse
  • When Knox members are sick, or in the hospital, they receive a "healing quilt" to help keep them warm, and remind them of all the prayers they are receiving. Knox has a group of people who help knit and deliver the quilts.
  • Parish Health Ministry - Pam Ward, Faith Community Nurse
  • Knox is blessed to have a very active and supportive health ministry. Our Faith Community Nurse, Pam Ward, would love to talk to you about any concerns you our your family may have, and welcomes volunteers to help in various areas.

Mission Opportunities

  • Interfaith Hospitality Network - Judy Holcombe, IHN Coordinator
  • IHN- Interfaith Hospitality Network is a national response to our nation's homeless problems. It is a program that provides a safe place to sleep, a warm meal, a smile and a chance to take a breath while trying to get back on your feet. At Knox, we host up to 16 people every 8 weeks. Volunteers are needed for many different areas. Find more information on our IHN Page.
  • Third Church Tutoring - Jan Annett, Director of Stephen Ministry
  • A group of volunteers travel to Third Church Presbyterian, our mission partner church, each Wednesday to help tutor kids from the neighborhood. Volunteers are always welcome!
  • M.E.A.C. - Contact Andrew Chun, Mission Committee Chair.
  • The Madisonville Education and Assistance Center, or MEAC, provides social services for the residents of Madisonville. There are multiple ways that you can get involved.
  • Withrow H.S. Mentoring - Priscilla Ungers, Coordinator
  • Withrow High School is located just blocks from Knox. Mentors work with students on a one on one basis and the relationship often has a lasting effect on both people.

Fellowship Opportunities

  • Youth Groups - David Annett, Director of Youth
  • Knox Church has a very dynamic Youth Program. We offer groups for youth in grades 5-12 which participate in a variety of events and trips throughout the school year, and over the summer. Please visit our Youth Group Page for complete information on our programs.
  • First Friday Family Fun Nights - David Annett, Director of Youth
  • On the First Friday of each month, the young families of Knox get together for dinner, programs, games and fellowship. After a community dinner, the adults have a program, while the kids have a mini youth group. Child care is available for infants and toddlers. All are welcome to attend!
  • Knox Dinner and Interest Groups - Liz Tilton, Coordinator
  • Are you looking for a casual way to meet new people at Knox, or reconnect with new friends? Then the Knox Dinner and Interest Groups are just what you are looking for. Participants are broken up into random groupings which then set times to meet for dinner, movies, conversation... whatever the group decides!
  • Circle 12 - Jan Annett, Director of Stephen Ministry
  • Circle 12 is one of Knox's longest running groups. They meet monthly for dinner and a program or speaker.
  • Presbyterian Women - Beverly Maisenhalter (351-2074)
  • The Presbyterian Women meet monthly on Wednesdays for a program or speaker at 10:15 followed by a luncheon. All are welcome, please RSVP to Beverly in advance.

Educational Opportunities

  • Adult Education - Tiffany Zents, Director Christian Education
  • Knox offers a wide variety of educational opportunities throughout the year. We invite you to join us for exploration and inquiry in areas of faith, scripture and current issues. Please visit our Adult Education Page for details on classes and times.
  • Sunday School - Tiffany Zents, Director Christian Education
  • Sunday School at Knox is available to children and youth during both worship hours on Sunday morning. Our classes are designed to respond to the great commission to teach. It is also a visible demonstration of living out our baptismal vows to care for, nurture and support the young people of our church. Teachers are always needed for Sunday School, if you are interested please contact Tiffany at the email above.
  • Monday Morning Bible Study - Tom York, Pastor
  • Our Pastor, Tom York, leads a Bible study each Monday morning at 11:00 am in the Knox Room. All are welcome for learning, discussion and fellowship.
  • Seekers Bible Study - Heidi Knellinger, Coordinator
  • The Seeker's group meets on the 2nd and 4th Mondays each month, beginning Monday, Sept. 14th, from 9:30-11:00 am in the Knox Library. Childcare is available. Please contact Heidi Knellinger or call the church office (321-2573) for more information.

Committee Work
